British style guide: Get the Alexa look

In honor of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee coming up next month, closely followed by the Olympic Games, Relaxnews offers a guide for fashionistas hoping to get in touch with their inner Brit. When emulating the London look there is no better source of inspiration than the British Fashion Council's recently appointed Young Style Ambassador Alexa Chung.
The 28-year-old model and television presenter, who was given the job of "championing London designers" by the BFC back in February, has also been named Britain's top style icon for two year's running at the British Fashion Awards -- and counts US Vogue editor Anna Wintour and Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld among her biggest fans.
Achieving the trademark Alexa look is primarily about accessorizing -- whether it be with a vintage doctor's bags, a colored satchel or of course her own namesake handbag, the "Alexa", which is available from Mulberry stores and online.
In terms of footwear, flats are always favored over heels, with ballet pumps, loafers and the mandatory brogue nearly always teamed with ankle socks or bare legs. For this season British high street favorites including Bertie, Topshop and River Island have an array of androgynous footwear styles on offer.
Hats are also essential to the Alexa aesthetic, and like her fellow Brit style icons such as Florence Welch and Kate Moss, a trilby always goes down well. Brands including Accessorize have a host of styles perfect for the summer, including straw and patterned motif varieties.
Always one to mix high street with designer when purchasing her wardrobe staples such as denim shorts, Peter Pan collar blouses and tuxedo jackets, Alexa champions some of the UK's biggest rising fashion talents including Mary Katrantzou, J.W. Anderson and Peter Pilotto.
